WOW! What an exciting end we had to 2012! We (finally) moved into our new location just in time for a wonderful season of Santa portraits!

While many things were different this year, like plenty of space and our fun new backdrop, one thing most certainly didn’t change! We were once again blessed with some incredible little visitors! Some of you we have had the opportunity to watch grow year after year and others were first timers but altogether you all made one fabulous year! Thank you all for coming to see us and for making this year’s Santa Experience one we will always remember!

If your little (or not so little) ones came to see Santa this year see if you can find them in our video!

Bear with us as we catch you up on how 2011 ended! There is a plethora of things to tell you about!

First off, there are our wonderful Santa sessions! During the month of December you may have noticed a jolly man in a red suit wandering around the lab. No, it isn’t Wilson in town for a visit, he is actually our wonderful Santa! We are so blessed to have the BEST Santa anywhere, the REAL Santa. Well, as far as we are concerned anyway. We had a record number of little ones pay him a visit this year. Each one having an experience you can find in few other places. Aside from our one of a kind Santa, the other thing that sets us apart, is the entire experience a child has when coming here. There is a private comfortable environment where children are at ease to get acquainted with the man in the red suit and tell them all their wishes! They have the opportunity to read a story with Santa and then each one receives a treat as they leave! This is by far one of my favorite times of the year with all those smiling faces (although not without a tear here or there) but knowing how many memories were made definitely keeps a smile on my face!

Next up is an event that we have had the pleasure to be a part of for many years (dating back to pre-f/32). Santa at Franklin Square is a fun family event where children have the opportunity to climb into Santa’s sleigh and be photographed as well as put in their requests.  It is an all day affair, perfect for families to spend the day in Christmas cheer as they walk around the shopping center.  Children’s activities, puppet shows, choir singers, face painting and even a horse drawn carriage creates and atmosphere that will keep you coming back year after year.

And lastly, we were invited to participate in Dog Days at Ijams Nature Center. Lots of owners and their puppies stopped by to have a portrait made while exploring with other vendors and meeting new folks.  Ijams Nature Center has decided to partner with Poo Prints, a green initiative helping improve local air and water quality to create a cleaner and greener community, and this was the perfect launch opportunity!  In 2011 we were very fortunate to develop a fabulous relationship with the people at Ijams and take part in several of their events! Hopefully we will have more opportunities to join in their fun events this year!

So to recap, we had a very busy end of 2011 and are anticipating a lot of greatness for 2012! Enjoy the images below collected from our various ventures over the last few months!

A big thanks to everyone who was a part of making 2011 a HUGE success!

I believe wholeheartedly in scrapbooking (although I haven’t worked on my own much lately).  I’m not talking about those wildly decorated pages with one picture on them that took hours and lots of tools and supplies to create (although if you are a fan of those, more power to you…I have too many pictures and not enough patience).  No, I just mean getting your pictures into a book of some kind (that is safe for the images if not a digitally created book) with the stories of your pictures written or typed out beside them.  These are your memories, the recording of your life.  That’s a story that deserves to be told.

I was babysitting the other day for a dear friend of mine and after the boys went to bed, I pulled one of her scrapbooks off the bookshelf and started going though it.  Her scrapbooks are meticulously lined up by year and she is almost caught up to current date.  I went through the first one entirely before I even realized that she had little to no “decoration in it at all.  It was just pictures and journaling in her own hand.  I was so engrossed in the stories and the images that I did not miss the “pretty pages” at all.  Guess what…your kids or grandkids won’t miss them either.  Wouldn’t you love to have an organized history of your parents, grandparents, or even your own life with the stories in their own voice and their own hand?  Talk about priceless.  Don’t get bogged down in all the hype and  “commercialism” of scrapbooking.  Simple is good, often even better!  I guarantee you that those two boys won’t ever say, ” I wish Momma had spent more time decorating these pages”!

I think about these things all through the year, but a good part of the community joins me in it around this time of the year:).  We are scheduling appointments now for portrait sessions with Santa.  Boy have times changed!  I remember going to see Santa every year when I was little.  It was usually in this little storage type building that sat in the parking lot of the Kroger on Broadway, probably because that was the closest one near my Grandparents’ house.  I don’t ever remember being scared of Santa, but then, I wasn’t exactly a “normal” child.  Back then, you got a Polaroid picture and it was just one shot.  I now have each one of these placed in their rightful chronological spot in my own childhood scrapbooks.  I wouldn’t take anything for those pictures.  Now we do 30 minute sessions with Santa and have at least 20 shots to show for it by the time we are through.  More importantly, the kids get to actually spend some time with Santa, they usually end with reading a book together.

Here at the lab, we work with a lot of professional photographers and their clients.  The last three months of the year are tremendously popular in this area of the country for family photos, so things get a little more exciting right about now for that reason.  It’s always a great feeling to know that we have helped produce something that will mean so much to families.  I’m a techy girl and I like my gadgets (Iphone, IMac, IPad…I’m an Apple girl in case you hadn’t guessed), but they will never take the place of a good, old-fashioned, reliable print in my heart.  Technology is a great addition, but not a replacement.

So, think about sharing your memories this Christmas.  I can’t think of a better gift.  Don’t know where to even start?  No worries, we’re happy to help you with that.  Just drop by or shoot us an email and we’ll get you headed in the right direction.  It’s not as hard as it may seem:)

The f/32 Santa Experience 2010 was fantastic! Santa saw lots of smiling children and a few pets too! Everyone came to hear Santa read them a story and have some one on one time with “the big guy” before he was scheduled to make his rounds that cold winter night! With all of the wish lists and promises of cookies I am sure that all the boys and girls as well as Santa had a great Christmas!  I hope you had a chance to come in an say hello, but if you missed him, be sure to make it by next year! If you did come by remember you can still order prints here! Check out some of our visitors from this Holiday season!

Don’t forget f/32 has a portrait studio year round and different scheduled events throughout the year! Stay tuned for details of our next event!
